Cassie De Pecol is the newest addition to the Guinness Book of World Records. She traveled to all 126 countries in 18 months and 26 days. She started her journey in July 2015.
De Pecol spent her travels promoting sustainable tourism as an ambassador for the International Institute of Peace Through Tourism.
She budgeted $198,000 to get herself around the world. When she decided to embark on this journey, she had roughly $0.00 saved up. She knew she needed to get creative to raise money.
She utilized sponsorship’s and traded accommodation at eco-friendly hotels for promotional coverage of their sustainability efforts.

She also faced the challenge of gaining access to some countries. For example, solo American travelers are not allowed in North Korea alone. De Pecol opted to enter the country with a group of Chinese travelers and only had to pay $300 dollars for a travel visa.
